Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council has announced that essential improvement works on the pathways within Brent Road Cemetery will begin from Monday 27 April 2026.

The project is part of an ongoing programme to maintain the safety and accessibility of the site. Officials expect the work to continue for a minimum of four weeks.

Project timelines may be extended depending on weather conditions or unforeseen issues. Some areas of the cemetery will have restricted access while paths are resurfaced and improved.

While certain sections may be temporarily closed, contractors will signpost alternative routes. Visitors must follow on-site signage and guidance from staff to ensure safety during the upgrades.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these important upgrades.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation in helping us preserve the dignity and accessibility of the cemetery for years to come.”
