Babworth Crematorium will close on 18 July to install new technology designed to increase personalisation options for funeral services.
The site, which is operated by Westerleigh Group, is expected to resume operations on 4 August as part of the ‘SuperVenue’ rollout.
The renovation includes the installation of an external welcome screen to display names and photographs of the deceased. Inside the chapel, themes and images will be projected onto the front wall, supported by coordinated lighting and audio systems.
Managers have already confirmed that several other locations within the group have already adopted the digital branding.
Families will be able to select specific themes for the chapel walls, such as landscapes or seasonal backgrounds. The facility will hold an open day on 30 May between 10am and 2pm to demonstrate the new systems to the public.
Ben Schofield, manager of Babworth Crematorium, said: “We are proud to be introducing the opportunity to personalise funerals to unprecedented levels to our bereaved communities.
“The feedback received from our SuperVenues already operating in other parts of the country has been extremely positive, and I look forward to supporting the bereaved near and further afield to have the chance to create the most memorable tributes to their loved ones here at Babworth.”
He added: “Whether it’s a landscape theme or a seasonal background, or even a football stadium, there is a wide range of choices available, with many options to tailor the displays to be specifically relevant to the person being honoured.”
