Andrew Grey Funeral Directors has awarded funding to two local community groups focused on reducing social isolation and improving wellbeing in Hetton.

The funeral provider, which is part of the Funeral Partners network, provided the financial support through its community fund programme.

One recipient is Hetton Buddies, a community group set up by local parents for children with special educational needs and disabilities to provide activities and support for families within the local area.

Funding was also awarded to the Hetton Independent Methodist Church Men’s Walking Football initiative. A newly-established group, it aims to encourage physical activity and social connection among men in the community.

Company representatives Andrew Grey and Gillian Grey presented the awards to representatives from both organisations.

Andrew Grey said: “We are proud to support organisations that are creating such positive opportunities within the local community. Both groups are making a real difference to people’s lives by bringing people together, reducing isolation and providing valuable support.”
