Armstrong Funeral Service is celebrating 30 years of serving families across Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk.

Founded in 1997, the family-run business remains independent and is supported by a team upholding the same values as when it opened.

Nick Armstrong, founder of Armstrong Funeral Service, said: “When I started Armstrongs I had been working for the larger chains of funeral directors and there was a massive shift towards large companies offering little choice and a lack of consideration for the individual requirements of bereaved relatives. I know that because I could see it happening.

“I wanted to start a small independent funeral service which placed an emphasis on personal care, choice and respect for the wishes of the customer, to make things more personal and a little easier for families.”

Built from a £5,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust, Armstrong was recognised as a young entrepreneur in the region, winning several awards from the Bury Free Press and gaining a commendation from the King.

Throughout his career, Armstrong has also taken on unusual fundraising and awareness challenges, helping to raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities.
