Ensembl has officially debuted in the UK this week (25 June) as the first payment and finance platform specifically for funeral directors, with the aim of replacing generic transactional systems.

The platform provides a suite of tools designed for the sector, including secure payment links sent via text or email, instalment options and automated reminders.

Ensembl also offers Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)-regulated finance to allow families to spread costs, alongside a single dashboard to track balances across multiple locations.

Funeral directors across the UK can now access the live system, which aims to reduce manual invoicing and improve cash flow.

A spokesperson for Ensembl said: “The funeral sector has been underserved by payment technology for too long. Funeral directors are running emotionally sensitive businesses with the same rigid, transactional tools designed for retail. That creates real problems for cash flow, for teams, and most importantly for families who are already under enormous pressure. We built Ensembl because this sector deserves better.”
