Skipton-based Howcrofts Funeral Services has announced that David Lawson has returned to the business as a funeral director, re-establishing a long-standing historical connection between his family and the company.

Lawson, who was already a qualified funeral director and embalmer prior to joining the independently-run business, entered the profession aged 17 and has worked across several funeral homes.

He previously operated his own business before joining the team at Howcrofts.

The appointment marks a continuation of a generational link between the families as Lawson’s great-grandfather, William Lawson, operated a funeral business on Water Street.

The Lawson family business was later managed by James, Jack, and Arthur Lawson. The brothers frequently collaborated with Tom, Jack, and Geoffrey Howcroft in the 20th Century.

According to the funeral provider, existing funeral plans previously managed by Lawson will still remain secure and will be administered through Howcrofts.

Lawson said: “I’m so pleased to join such a respected, long-established family business. It’s a truly warm and welcoming team, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
