Dignity has announced the appointment of Phil Humphries as its new independent non-executive director.

Humphries will serve on the funeralcare provider’s board of directors, with immediate effect.

With an executive career working for quoted and unquoted companies, his previous roles include being group finance director for Care UK for more than 12 years.

Currently, Humphries holds advisory roles at a small number of unlisted companies and will chair Dignity’s audit committee, as well as be a member of the Remuneration and Nomination committees.

Clive Whiley, Dignity’s chairman, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul to Dignity. He has extensive experience in finance, strategy, systems transformation and change which will add significant value to our board.”
