Funeral staff from The Fairways Partnership funeral homes in Angus have achieved professional qualifications.

Collette Campbell of Alexander Bain Funeral Directors in Forfar and Angela Campbell from Dave Mackay Funeral Directors in Arbroath have both achieved a BTEC Advanced Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration.

Collette, who has worked at Alexander Bain for 16 years, said: “I enjoy meeting and helping people by providing a service specifically arranged for each individual family. This is a very rewarding career.

“I am proud to have achieved my diploma after a lot of hard work both on and off the job, from day to day training and coursework. I found the course very useful as it covered a whole range of topics. I particularly enjoyed learning about funeral law and different funeral customs according to individual people’s faiths.”

Before joining the profession in 2006, Angela was a full-time housewife and mother. She continues: “I only joined David Mackay’s to cover maternity leave for six months, however I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so when a permanent position arose, I jumped at the opportunity of returning full-time.

“I now have a recognised qualification within the industry, with prospects to advance in my new career, which I find challenging and very rewarding. I have already started my funeral director training and I feel privileged in being entrusted with arranging and conducting funerals for families’ loved ones.”
