A funeral home which has served hundreds of bereaved families in Morley has re-located to new premises.

Asquiths Funeral Service, formerly of Peel Street in Morley, re-opened at Albion Street, Morley, on 12 March 1 and has been re-named The Co-operative Funeralcare incorporating Asquiths Funeral Service.

Former owner of Asquiths Funeral Service, Peter Askins, will remain a consultant acting as a funeral director when requested by families.

Askins said: “When a family is bereaved and have lost a loved one, a familiar face makes the pain more bearable when making funeral arrangements, so I will still be closely involved in Asquiths as a consultant.

“Care of the deceased and their family have always been my priority, and should be given the best care that they deserve at such a sad time.”

Askins took over the business in 1985 from Norman Asquith who provided funeral vehicles. In 1988 Peter expanded Asquiths to a complete funeral service.

The new premises feature an arranging room, two chapels of rest and a large reception area.

Regional manager, Phil Barr, said: “Our new funeral home is absolutely beautiful, it is also far larger and in a more convenient central location. This investment will help us to provide a high quality service to local people and the surrounding communities.”
