James Giles and Sons funeral directors from Bromsgrove, near Redditch, has raised £500 for charity by hosting a golf day.

Held at Kings Norton Golf Club, the day catered for 50 golfers who participated in the light-hearted tournament, with prizes distributed for different categories of golfing achievements, including ‘nearest to the pin’. A raffle was also held.

Company owner Ray Giles told the Bromsgrove Standard: “As one of the oldest established family companies in Bromsgrove, we feel it is very important to support the local community.”

The charity collecting the money, Primrose Hospice, which focuses on patients living with life-limiting illnesses and their families in the north Worcestershire area, was very happy with the continued support of the funeral directors.

“They have supported the Primrose for years in all sorts of ways and we appreciate everything they have done,” said Lyn Winters, Primrose Hospice’s community fundraising manager.
