Employees at Moseley-based Ambler Brothers funeral home have reassured families after a “huge” tree fell onto the building as Storm Ciara swept through the UK over the weekend.

According to Birmingham Live, the funeral home in Alcester Road suffered structural damage.

Central England Co-op, who own the business said they will continue to give loved ones in their care “the highest standards of care” while  it awaits for the damage at the home to be repaired.

Heavy rain and winds of up to 60mph were believed to caused the tree to fall.

A spokesperson told Birmingham Live : “We can confirm that a tree has damaged our Ambler Brothers funeral home as a result of Storm Ciara.

“We would like to reassure families whose loved ones are currently in our care that they have not been impacted in anyway but, as a precaution, we will be moving them to our nearby Stirchley Funeral Home to ensure they continue to get the highest standards of care while we await for the damage at the home to be repaired.”

They added: “Any family members who have any questions or concerns can contact our team at the home 24 hours a day on 0121 449 7710.”
