Bradley and Sons funeral directors expands in ex-Saxilby post office

West Lindsey District Council has approved the request issued by Bradley and Sons Funeral Directors to expand into the Saxilby post office.

The funeral home located in Gainsborough asked the local council for permission to create a residential apartment situated on the first floor as well as an extension to link the main building with the car port. 

Bradley and Sons is currently run by youngest son Carlton Bradely, 33, with his father Cliff Bradley, 77, “still having an active role in the business.”

Directors said the Saxilby branch needed to be open to meet increasing demand in the local area, “The opening is set to create jobs for the locals for receptionist, funeral arranger, cleaners and bearers positions.

The new facilities include a reception area, office, staff kitchen, two arranging rooms, chapel and arranging room, mortuary, coffin preparation area and staff and customer parking.

Senior director, Carlton Bradley said: “We have wanted to expand into Saxilby for several years to meet the increasing demand for our services. We initially struggled to find suitable premises but in August we purchased the old post office and where granted planning permission in October.

“Whilst carrying out the renovations we have received an overwhelmingly warm welcome from the locals saying how pleased they are to have a funeral directors back in the village and asking when they can come to have a look around.”

The new “Lea Fields” crematorium is set to open in January 2020.
