Police investigate fraud allegations at Fife funeral directors

A Fife funeral directors is currently facing an ongoing police investigation amid claims of fraudulent activity at the business

Stevenson Funeral Directors, which has branches in Cardenden, Kirkcaldy and Rosyth, is under investigation after claims that some customers paid thousands of pounds for funeral plans, however trustees for the plan, Avalon, have allegedly received no money indicating that the plans were not registered with the trustee company.

A police spokesman for Police Scotland confirmed: “Police Scotland is investigating a report of a fraudulent scheme linked to a business in Rosyth, Fife, which was received in September 2019. Inquiries remain ongoing.”

A spokesperson for Avalon Funeral Plans said: “Avalon have been made aware of the situation by Dunfermline police who have requested that all enquiries are passed directly to them at Dunfermline Police Station.”

Stevenson Funeral Directors has been approached for a comment by Funeral Service Times but has not responded at the time of publication.
