Alternative hearses showcased at Natural Burial Open Day
A display of alternative hearses were showcased at the Wrottesley Park Natural Burial Ground as part of the site’s Natural Burial Open Day on Saturday 28 July.
A Morris Minor hearse was extremely popular with a constant stream of visitors asking questions and admiring the historic hearse.
Another unique vehicle, a custom built trike hearse also drew gasps and many questions. Finally the Midcounties Funeralcare displayed their Brahms all-electric hearse, the ultimate in providing a full environmentally friendly service matching the ethos of the natural burial ground.
Wrottesley Park Natural Burial Ground offers the public a peaceful, environmentally friendly, alternative to traditional cemeteries and personalisation of funeral services. As part of the open day, guided tours were conducted and visitors were able to ask questions about natural burials.
Rachel Doggett, services manager at The Natural Burial Company, said: “Natural burial is becoming increasingly popular as people want more personal services to say goodbye to their loved ones. These wonderful vehicle options are great for those who would like a final journey in keeping with their life lived, and an all-electric hearse is perfect for protecting the environment.
“Cost is also becoming more of an issue and most people are surprised to find that natural burial is cheaper than most traditional cemeteries and crematoria.”
