Robert Maclachlan has been appointed managing director of Co-op Funeralcare.

Robert previously held the national operations director role, overseeing Co-op’s 1000 funeral homes across the UK.

As managing director of Funeralcare, Robert reports to Pippa Wicks, deputy CEO for Co-op and will continue to work closely alongside Matt Howells as managing director of Co-op’s Legal and Later Life planning business.

Robert joined the business at the beginning of 2016, moving from his previous position as managing director of Golden Charter, the funeral plan provider. Prior to this, Robert held senior roles at Natwest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Saga.

Pippa Wicks, deputy CEO, said: “Our Funeralcare business continues to progress and innovate in meeting the needs of bereaved families.

“Robert’s leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of Co-op Funeralcare will be vital as we continue to develop a future vision, in keeping with our wider Group purpose of championing the Co-op way.’’
