Colourful Coffins team completes Three Peaks ChallengeColourful Coffins has raised more than £5000 for Derian House Children’s Hospice and The Anthony Nolan Trust having completed the National Three Peaks Challenge.

Bob Tomes, his son Brad and designer Scott McBride, joined by a group of funeral industry professionals, undertook the challenge to climb three of the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland, twice.

Bob Tomes said: “Given that several of us attempted the Three Peak Challenge for charity last year, it was decided this year that we wanted to push ourselves a little further, while still retaining a walking challenge.”

Although completing the initial challenge of climbing Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, delays combined with the need to take time out to rest, meant those tackling the six peaks decided turn their adventures into a four peak challenge.

They climbed Snowdon for their fourth and final ascent having already completing around 25 miles of walking and 500 miles of driving.

Tomes explained: “We weren’t helped by the unseasonal June weather – the ice, snow and plenty of driving rain meant it was very cold and very wet for much of the walking.”
