Would you like a wake with your burger and fries?

The family of a recently deceased man obsessed with Burger King gave him a ‘whopper’ of a send-off, by holding his funeral at his local chain.

David S. Kime Jr was a regular at the restaurant in Manchester, Pennsylvania, visiting every week to get his fill of his favourite snack, the Whopper Jr.

The 88-year-old’s passion for the chain was such that upon his heart complication-related passing, his daughters thought it best to treat him to a ‘drive-thruneral’.

En route to his final resting place, the funeral procession made a detour to the branch to collect David’s final Whopper Jr. Mourners then looked on as one of David’s daughters placed the burger on top of her father’s coffin before it was lowered into the ground.

“He always lived by his own rules. His version of eating healthy was the lettuce on the Whopper Jr,” remarked his daughter, Linda Phiel.

Manager of the Burger King branch, Margaret Hess added that, while she is sorry to be losing one of her best customers, “it’s nice to know he was a loyal customer up until the end… the very end!”
