An amateur football team has secured the support of a nearby funeral home.

The Co-operative Funeralcare in Old Crosby, near Scunthorpe, helped Winterton Rangers Football Club’s season get off to a good start with sponsorship, paying for tracksuits and t-shirts.

The community-based football club, which plays in the Baris Northern Counties East League, is run entirely by volunteers and is reliant on sponsorship. It also has a women’s and junior under-19s’ team.

Malcolm Angel, manager of the Co-operative Funeralcare, said: “As a business at the heart of the community, we wanted to give something back to the local community and this was an ideal opportunity.”
