ICCM appoints new technical services officer

The Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) has announced the appointment of Oliver Thompson as its new technical services officer.

Thompson joins the professional body after 12 years at South Lincolnshire Crematorium, where he worked in a range of operational and technical roles. His experience includes the day-to-day management of crematoria sites and longer-term planning aimed at maintaining and improving service standards.

In his new role, Thompson will provide technical guidance to ICCM members, share best practice and support initiatives intended to strengthen professional standards across the cemetery and crematorium sector.

The appointment comes as the ICCM continues work on training, guidance and professional development for its membership, which includes local authority and private sector operators across the UK.

Mathew Crawley, chief executive of the ICCM, said: “Oliver will be a great addition to our team as we look to the opportunities the new year brings and continue to grow as an organisation.

“His approach and experience closely reflect our ethos around training, guidance and best practice, having completed a wide range of ICCM initiatives throughout his career, including the ICCM Diploma and the Crematorium Technician’s Training Scheme qualification.”

Thompson added: “I am immensely proud to be joining the ICCM team to continue the important work of empowering our members and ultimately ensuring a high-quality service is delivered to bereaved families.
