Ryan Marsh began his career in mechanical and electrical engineering before joining a global marine engineering firm, where he progressed to group warranty manager

A.W. Lymn The Craftsmen in Stone has announced the appointment of Ryan Marsh to the role of general manager, as the funeral firm strengthens its stonemasonry services across the East Midlands.

Marsh, who joins with more than 10 years of experience in engineering and quality assurance, will oversee improvements to the company’s memorial services, focusing on compliance, team leadership and quality standards.

He began his career in mechanical and electrical engineering before joining a global marine engineering firm, where he progressed to group warranty manager. Matthew Lymn Rose, managing director of A.W. Lymn, said: “Ryan’s initiative and experience made an immediate impression. He recognised how his skills could support the growth of our business, and we felt he’d be a perfect fit for our stonemasonry operations. Ryan is aware of the high standards our families expect and is keen to maintain those.”

Marsh approached the company directly, seeking to move into a sector less affected by technological disruption following the pandemic. He submitted a CV and proposal outlining how his skills could support the firm’s heritage and development.

He said: “Helping to install my first memorial was both humbling and fulfilling. It reinforced the emotional impact of what we do. My goal is to maintain the best practices that have been here for many years and introduce some new processes that elevate our service and give our team the tools and confidence to deliver excellence every time.”

Marsh’s priorities in the role include streamlining workflows, optimising software systems, and encouraging cross-training and professional development among staff.
