Community-spirited funeral director E Sargeant & Son has been named Slough’s Company of the Year in recognition of the firm’s contribution to the local community.

The long-established funeral firm, now part of the Funeral Partners family, won the award which was arranged by Slough Business Community Partnership.

E Sargeant & Son, which also has branches in Windsor and Maidenhead, has worked with many organisations and groups over the past year providing funding and support.

In the past 12 months, the firm has sponsored interactive children’s concerts for The Dionysus Ensemble, collected Easter eggs for Home-Start in Slough to deliver to vulnerable families, and provided gift bags for carers and funded a river boat trip for them during Carers’ Week in June.

E Sargeant & Son is a member of the Slough Business Community Partnership, which creates partnerships between the private, public and voluntary sectors to support the communities of Slough.

Area Development Manager for E Sargeant & Son, Mark Clements, said: “I’m pleased the work of our staff to support organisations and individuals in Berkshire has been recognised, but by working together with the other businesses in the partnership we all achieve so much more for our communities.”

Recent initiatives include supporting a ‘grandchildren and residents’ day at Manor Care Home in Old Windsor, by providing goody bags for the children, and transporting residents from the Windmill Care Centre in Slough to Sunday lunch in style using two of E Sargeant’s Jaguar limousines.
