West Midlands-based funeral director, Jennifer Ashe and Son, has launched its own support bereavement group.

This comes in response to roughly half a million people in England currently coping with the aftermath of loss, while one in four are dealing with mental health issues.

The family-run business hosted the inaugural session of its Dove Bereavement Group at the start of October at Ye Old Toll House in Willenhall, close to its headquarters on New Road.

James Smith, funeral director at Jennifer Ashe and Son, said: “The Dove Bereavement Group is a natural extension of our commitment to serving our community during some of life’s most challenging moments.

“We understand the impact that losing someone can have on an individual as well as families and friends, and we want to support those during their most vulnerable time.”

He added: “By setting up the support group, we hope to offer a safe space where people can connect, support one another, and ultimately find a path towards healing.”

According to the funeral provider, the bereavement group aims to give people with a supportive network to share experiences and find comfort. Most importantly, it is easily accessible and free to attend.

The next support group will be hosted on Wednesday 1 November from 10:30am until 12:00pm at Ye Old Toll House, which is accessible via public transport and will be facilitated by the Jennifer Ashe and Son team.
