Forsey and Son has announced it will mark its 80th anniversary with a sponsored cycle and walking event between its Somerset branches from 30 July.
Staff at the firm will travel 31 miles over three days to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice Care and Children’s Hospice South West.
The event, titled Cycle and Stroll, begins with an 18-mile cycle from Doulting to Somerton. This is followed by two walking legs to Butleigh and Glastonbury.
The business was established in 1946 and is currently operated by the fourth generation of the Forsey family.
The first stage on 30 July runs from Ashdene in Doulting to Pound Pool in Somerton. The second stage, a five-mile walk, takes place on 31 July.
The challenge concludes on 1 August with an eight-mile walk from Butleigh to Willowfields in Glastonbury, arriving at approximately 12:00.
Fundraising will be conducted through the Give Wheel platform. The firm selected the two charities due to their work providing palliative care to local families.
A spokesperson for Forsey and Son said: “We have been caring for local families for 80 years. It is our intention to celebrate this anniversary by hosting events throughout the year.”
