Longfield Community Hospice has launched a free will writing scheme during September, giving people the chance to write or update a simple will in return for a donation.

The Gloucestershire-based hospice has partnered with local solicitors, who are volunteering their time and expertise to prepare standard single or mirror Wills.

Appointments with participating solicitors are available to book throughout September.

Suggested donations to the hospice are £90 for a single will and £160 for a pair of mirror wills, with all funds supporting patients with life-limiting illness and families affected by bereavement.

Research suggests more than half of UK adults do not have a will in place, with many deterred by the cost. The hospice said the initiative aims to encourage people to prepare legal arrangements while raising money for its services.

A spokesperson for Longfield said: “Making a will is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your loved ones. This service gives people peace of mind while also helping to fund vital care.”
