The team at Wessex Vale Crematorium has raised £900 for Dementia UK by hosting a quiz night.

The quiz evening was in support of the charity’s ‘Time for a Cuppa’ fundraising initiative, and was attended by members of the local funeral profession.

Wessex Vale Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, which prides itself on providing exceptional care to the bereaved, the standards of which are inspected by the FBCA in England and Wales, and the Scottish Government.

Dementia UK is Westerleigh Group’s corporate charity partner and throughout the year, and over a two-year-period, Westerleigh has a target of raising £300k.

Lisa Johnson, manager of Wessex Vale Crematorium, said: “During the evening, funeral professionals showcased their knowledge against a wide range of questions in the quiz, which was hosted by our very own Jemma Andrews. Alongside the quiz, a raffle was drawn, which had been open to the public.

“I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who attended and contributed to the success of both the quiz and the raffle. The money raised will hopefully go a small way in contributing to the valuable work of Dementia UK in supporting those affected by Dementia.”

She added: “Congratulations to the winners of the quiz night, ‘6 Man Curry’, who were crowned overall champions and awarded with a trophy for their efforts.”
