A local charity has been given a donation of £5,000 from Havant’s crematorium thanks to the generosity of bereaved families in the local area.
Children with serious health challenges are set to benefit from the donation from The Oaks Crematorium, in Havant, which is part of Southern Co-op.
The money is being donated to local charity Over The Wall and comes from the crematorium’s membership to a nationwide fundraising scheme, run by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM).
Ian Rudkin, crematorium and natural burial ground manager for The Oaks, said: “It is a real pleasure to be able to donate such a large amount of money to fantastic charities which are very close to our heart, such as Over The Wall. The charity has helped hundreds of children to develop confidence and self-esteem through their camps which is invaluable.”
The donation was presented to Over The Wall by colleagues at The Oaks which is set in eight and a half acres of woodland and a wildflower meadow.
Isabel Overton, director of development at Over The Wall, added: “We are incredibly grateful to have received this generous donation from The Oaks. These funds will help us to provide even more places for children with health challenges, allowing them to enjoy the free residential camps that Over The Wall provides.”
