Lighthouse Funerals has announced its acquisition of Rosedale Funeral Home for an undisclosed amount, adding seven branches across Norfolk and Suffolk to the investment platform.

The Devon and Dorset-based funeral director platform, which was established in October 2024 by the private equity team at investment manager Downing, now includes 20 funeral directors and a separate masonry business.

Rosedale Funeral Home was founded in 2004 by Anne Beckett-Allen and Simon Beckett-Allen. The founders have chosen to partner with Lighthouse Funerals as the group builds a national network.

The Downing deal team for the acquisition included investment director Ed Motley and investment manager Taylor Francis. Lighthouse was advised by Trethowans, Hazlewoods and Pinders.

Ed Motley, investment director at Downing, said: “This acquisition reflects our commitment to backing Lighthouse to acquire high-quality, community-focused funeral businesses. We’re excited to support the team as the platform continues to scale.”

Steven Wilton, chief executive of Lighthouse Funerals, added: “I am excited that such a high-quality business has joined our group and I am grateful to Anne and Simon for placing their trust in me. I very much look forward to working together as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of the funeral profession.”

Downing revealed that it typically provides initial investments of between £5m and £50m, and targets sectors including healthcare, education and housing to support the growth ambitions of management teams.
