Westerleigh Group has revealed that four of its crematoria have been commended by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) under the Crematorium Compliance Scheme for providing an “excellent level of service provision”.

The four sites were Test Valley and Wessex Vale crematoria in Hampshire; Charing Crematorium in Kent; and Forest Park Cemetery and Crematorium in Essex

Inspectors examined more than 80 aspects of service delivery across six key areas, and concluded that Forest Park achieved a perfect score in all six categories, while the remaining three sites earned top marks in three areas.

Debbie Smith, chief executive of Westerleigh Group, said: “All four crematoria received very high overall marks, which demonstrates we are consistently delivering exceptional care and standards of service to the families we support.

“Forest Park did particularly well, achieving 99.4% in all six key areas of service delivery, which is outstanding. We are particularly proud of all four crematoria being awarded 100% for Service and Staff by the inspectors, because people are at the heart of everything we do.”

She added: “Getting full marks from the FBCA inspector for ‘Service and Staff’ is an important external endorsement of our crematoria teams, and means that families who choose a Westerleigh Group crematorium can be confident that they will receive exceptional support.”

The inspectors confirmed all four sites were operating in line with three key compliance areas: the Cremation Regulations 2009; the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Process Guidance Notes 5/12; and the Code of Cremation Practice.
