The Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium in Yearby has been awarded the 2021 ‘Gold Prize’ in the small/medium burial ground category at the National Cemetery of the Year Awards.

The crematorium, which is run by Memoria, received the award in August.

The Cemetery of the year Award, which is endorsed by Memorial Awareness Board (MAB) and Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) aims to showcase the work of those in the industry.

Philip Potts of the Memorial Awareness Board, said: “The awards are an excellent opportunity to reward hard-working staff and demonstrate the central role Cemeteries can play in the community. They provide places of peaceful contemplation and beauty, as well as their ecological importance.”

Gillian Johnston, manager at Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium added: “This award is such a wonderful pat on the back for our team, it acknowledges that we really go above and beyond to try and provide a reliable, friendly and quality service. My team and I are thrilled.”

Memoria was incorporated in 2003 and currently has 11 locations across England and Wales
