SAIF Care, the new bereavement counselling service, offered by the National Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) has surpassed 300 members since it launched less than six months ago.

The service was officially launched in March 2018 to SAIF member businesses at the organisation’s AGM. It provides funeral directors with a telephone helpline, email advice, online chat facility or six face to face sessions to those who are mourning.

It now has 320 members on its roster; equating to 135 out of the 880 businesses which are part of the SAIF association.

SAIF said: “We do still have a long way to go and would encourage anyone who might be interested in offering SAIF Care to contact us. That said, if we carry on at this rate we should have the largest reach of any bereavement organisation in the country and can really change access to bereavement care in the UK – and do it on behalf of independent funeral directors.”
