Scotland’s largest independent funeral directors, William Purves, has expanded its independent portfolio with a double acquisition in Northumberland and a new launch in Fife. The company says the first St Andrews branch is a “commitment to the Fife area” as the team is headed up by Syd Stevenson, a born and bred St Andrean.

In April 2018 the company acquired Gary Stalker Funeral Directors, the Whitley Bay based firm is trading business as usual with services delivered by the original team.

William Perves chairman, Tim Purves said: “Our business is based on four core values: compassion, respect, integrity and dedication.

“We are excited at the prospect of providing families in North Tyneside and North Fife, the highest quality service at their time of need. In addition, our experience in arranging funerals means we are more than equipped to help families trigger an awkward conversation about future planning and we look forward to building strong, long-lasting relationships in these communities.”
