Coventry funeral director launches shoebox Christmas appealA funeral director has launched an appeal to give poverty-stricken children a ‘shoebox of gifts’ this Christmas.

AJ Lloyd Funeral Directors in Coundon, Coventry, has sent out a plea for people to put together a shoebox of gifts for children who may not get anything over the festive period.

The shoeboxes from churches, schools and workplaces will be distributed by the Samaritans Purse charity to poor communities around the world.

Darren Lloyd, managing director of the firm, said: “We started running this seven years ago when we were the only drop-off point in Coventry.

“People can drop off boxes at any time and if there’s a large number of boxes we can arrange to come and collect them.”

Call AJ Lloyd Funeral Directors on 024 7633 1900 to arrange collection.
