Gary Valentine, a funeral director based in Greater London, is set to feature on Channel 4 News as part of a teaser for his documentary film.

Produced by Fat Rat Films, the film titled The Business of Death will follow Valentine and Turner Funeral Directors across a six-year period as he sets up his funeral practice with his best friend in a multi-faith south London community.

The feature-length documentary will also cover the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Valentine’s business and is set to premier in Winter 2021.

A special eight-minute preview of the film will be shown on Channel 4 News tonight (5 March) at 7pm.

In a statement on its website, Fat Rat Films said: “Across six years the feature-length documentary, The Business of Death, follows Gary as he builds a funeral business with his best friend Wayne, overcoming the odds to become the heart of his multi-faith community in South London.

“Then Covid-19 hits. As the bodies pile up around them, Gary and Wayne are forced to question how they – and the rest of the world – will cope with the business of death in this brutal new reality.”
