The Independent Funeral Directors’ (IDF) has announced that nominations are open for its college’s latest honour: the Matthew Gallagher Award.

Named after the college’s late governor, the recipient of the award will have to share Gallagher’s ‘‘inclusivity and vision’’, and will have ‘‘overcome challenges’’ to complete their IFD certification, whether they be educational, domestic or personal.

Nominees must be current students of an IFD college course, or must have completed the course in March 2019 or March 2020.

Nominees can be put forward either by employers, peers or through self-nomination.

The deadline for nominations is 31 December.
