James Smith Funeral Directors in Swanage, part of Dorset’s Douch Family Funeral Directors group, has announced the appointment of Elise Neville as its new manager.
Having worked at the branch for more than seven years, Neville succeeds long-standing manager Malcolm Green.
Neville said: “Having served Swanage for some years I understand the historic and important role the business plays within the community. The funeral industry is evolving. While Swanage remains rooted in tradition, we’re seeing more people seeking personalised and unique ways to honour their loved ones. We try where possible to accommodate these wishes and ensure each farewell is meaningful.
“People come to us during the most difficult times in their lives, and I consider it a true privilege to guide them through the arrangements with compassion and care. I’m fortunate to have the support of a wonderful team, and the connection with our other branches is invaluable.”
Nick Douch, managing director of Douch Family Funeral Directors, added: “Elise has successfully completed all her diplomas in funeral directing. Families she has worked with say how empathetic and kind she is and we value her professionalism and hard work. We know the branch is in very good hands.
“We are proud to continue to carry that [James Smith] name into the future more than 130 years after the branch was founded, and over half a century since becoming part of the Douch family.”
James Smith Funeral Directors has served Swanage and the wider Purbeck area since 1892. The business offers full funeral services, bereavement support groups and pre-arranged funeral plans.
Douch Family Funeral Directors also operates branches in Wimborne, Corfe Mullen, Blandford, Parkstone, Wareham and Ferndown.
