Independent, family-owned funeral directors, Mears Family Funerals, has announced the appointment of Gary Hart as the company’s new group commercial director.

It is reported that Hart is stepping up from his previous role as business development manager, and in his new role, will be responsible for the commercial activities of Mears Family Funerals, Mears and Jackson, Mears Repatriation, Nationwide Memorials, and the Memorial Centre.

In addition, he will also lead the digital marketing activities and development of the websites for the companies in the group.

Hart said: “I am proud of what Mears Family Funerals and its sister companies have achieved over the past few years, growing the businesses during the most challenging times in recent memory.

“We have embraced technology and developed award-winning digital solutions that have greatly improved access to our monumental masonry services. I look forward to working with Steve and Lisa to continue this innovation and to lead the development of our services to the funeral trade and our clients.”

Steven Mears, group CEO, added: “Gary has played a major part in building the strategic partnerships across the profession that have enabled us to rapidly grow our trade services for repatriations and funerals.
