Bereaved mother produces CD to help others

A mother who lost her six-week-old daughter to cot death has produced a CD of resources to help professionals working with those suffering from the death of a baby.

Chantal Lockey, whose daughter Marnie Mae passed away in 2004, is heavily involved in raising the standards and training for professional services, such as funeral directors, involved when a baby passes away. After attending the International Infant Loss Conference in Baltimore, USA, in October 2012, Chantal set to work compiling the CD of resources.

Included on the CD are guides on how to assist with a baby’s pre-funeral and funeral care; creating memories of the baby; advice for those attending a cot death scene; how to approach the issue of the post-mortem with bereaved parents; Chantal’s own story, and much more.

“I have been brutally honest in my writing and I offer a no holds barred approach to the devastation that occurs when a family loses a much loved baby so suddenly,” Chantal said.

“The fundamental element of this CD is to allow professionals who work in this area to gain a full understanding of what the bereaved parent is going through and ultimately what support is required.”
