Bexhill-on-Sea funeral arranger Claire Smith has achieved a B-Tec Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration.

Claire, of Mummery Funeral Directors, achieved the qualification in twelve months. After having previously worked as a shop assistant in a carpet and gift shop, Claire joined Mummery Funeral Directors in October 2010.

“My sister works within the funeral industry and I have always expressed an interest in working in the profession but unfortunately there weren’t any vacancies,” said Claire.

She continued: “When my husband, Paul, died in July 2010 after a long battle with cancer, I instinctively knew I wanted to do something different, having given up my previous job to care for him. “I love my job a great deal and I get an awful lot of satisfaction in helping the families that I look after. I am very proud of my achievement.”
