Great Glen Crematorium carries out service of dedication

Great Glen Crematorium celebrated a service of dedication in October 2017.  Since its opening in March 2017 it has been under the guidance of manager Helen Bozon.

The new crematorium, which is situated in Village of Great Glen in Leicestershire and set within 30 acres of Parkland, is owned and operated by the Westerleigh Group

During last month’ service music was provided by the Tudor Choir. Crematorium manager Helen Bozon welcomed the congregation and thanked funeral directors, clergy, funeral celebrants and the Hindu and Sikh faith leaders for the support given to the crematorium during the first six months of operation.

The multi faith service was led by The Rt.Rev Martyn Snow Bishop of Leicester with readings and prayers by Deacon Kevin O’Connor (Roman Catholic) Jane Humphries (Celebrant) Rev. Kim Ford, (Church of England) , Keith Baker (Celebrant) Deacon Vince Kelly (Roman Catholic) Prayers from Hindu Community by Chandubhai, Rev Fran Ryhs (Methodist). The Tudor Choir sang a beautiful version of Exulte Justi.

Bishop Martyn spoke of the importance of the new crematorium to the community offering a peaceful and tranquil place where bereaved families could mourn their loved ones and he emphasised the need for families to be able to grieve and for them to have the sure knowledge that their loved ones would be cared for by the dedicated crematorium staff.

After the dedication, Cll’r Grahame Spendlove-Mason, Chair of Harborough District Council, and Richard Evans, the managing director of the Westerleigh Group, both spoke to praise the new facility and the hard work that had gone into its creation.
