Irish funeral home rents fleet to Trump for $1m

Irish family funeral home, J.P Ward and Sons, has leased four limousines to the US government to rent out four limousines for a combined figure close to $1,000,000 (£750,000).

The company, based in Bray, County Wicklow received an order from the President’s office, for chauffeur services which will be paid in four instalments totalling $935,033, according to the US office portal USAspending.gov.

According to the company website, it has seven large passenger limousines, and four smaller estates available for rental. “All the vehicles are driven by professional, discreet and fully uniformed drivers.”

The purpose of the rental is not clear, as President Donald Trump has only spent two days in Ireland, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and meet with Irish taoiseach, Leo Varadkar.

This is the second time the directors have been used by the US state department, as they were paid $144,000 (£90,000) in 2014 to chauffeur the Obama family during their time in Northern Ireland.

Funeral Service Times, attempted to get a comment from J.P Ward and Sons, but no one was available.
