My Way tops funeral music chart

‘My Way’ is once again topping the Co-Op’s funeral music chart following a break in 2014.

Co-op Funeralcare’s 2016 funeral music charts have revealed top music choices, following a study of 30,000 funerals in the UK.

The charts began in 2002 and have been released bi-annually since. This year has seen a break through for artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Rihanna and Adele, with their tracks appearing as new entries in the ‘contemporary pop’ category.

The survey’s Funeral Music Chart places the following tracks in the overall top ten for 2016:

Over the rainbow, Eva Cassidy

Wind beneath my wings, Bette Midler

The research, which was conducted among 300 of Co-op’s funeral directors and arrangers in July 2016 based on funerals from last 12 months, found that Robbie William’s Angels, topped the contemporary pop chart. Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven was number one in the rock chart and Gerry and the Pacemakers’ You’ll never walk alone led the pack in the sport category.
