Funeral director to launch book teaching bereaved how to cook

Rosedale Funeral Directors, which has branches across Norfolk, is calling on local communities to supply recipes and stories for its Cooking for One book.

The book will include inspirational quotes, pictures and poetry as well as tips on self-care and wellbeing alongside guidance on shopping, preparing, cooking and storing food.

The book is set to be released next summer, and will be edited by company director Simon Beckett-Allen in memory of his Sarah who suddenly passed away four years ago.

Beckett-Allen said: “When a person you know and care about is bereaved it is hard to know what to say or how to help.

“My aim is that Cooking for One will be a thoughtful gift for a bereaved person to receive, encouraging them to cook to nourish themselves and, as time goes on to learn new skills in the kitchen and be inspired to share the food they have produced with others.”

Submissions are open until January, when all the entries will be collated and a range of them will be included in the book.
