East of England Co-op has officially opened its first funeral services branch in Thetford, extending its support for the communities of Norfolk

The branch was pronounced open following a ribbon cutting with Thetford mayor, Chris Harvey.

Members of the local community will be able to visit the new East of England Co-op funeral branch, located on Bury Road, for multi-faith and at-need support, as well as pre-paid funeral plans.

A number of community-focused activities will also be held at the branch, including ‘coffee and chat’ sessions every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm to help tackle loneliness and offer a valuable support network.

The new branch, which functions as an arrangement office, is managed by funeral arrangers Lisa Smith and Susan Cochrane, and will be open all week from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.

Thetford’s branch also offers several additional funeral services such as memorial masonry, memorial masonry, bereavement support and keepsakes.

Smith said: “With over nine decades of delivering our personalised, sensitive, and professional approach to funeral services, families across the East of England know they can trust in our teams through what can be an upsetting time.

“It’s a true privilege to open our doors to the local communities of Thetford and extend our services to this proud and historic town.”

She added: “Through our funeral services and community activities, including ‘coffee and chat’ sessions, we’re excited to offer the people of Thetford a local hub for expert guidance and bereavement support.”

East of England Co-op Funeral Services has branches across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex.
