Fosters Family Funeral Directors introduces safety measures to limousine fleet

Fosters Family Funeral Directors has upgraded its fleet of limousines with protective screens and specialist air filtration devices due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The move from the Scottish funeral company follows a range of adaptations to “put the safety of families first”, from social distancing measures to web-streaming services.

The funeral directors, which has 17 parlours across Scotland, made the decision to install protective screens in all of its limousines following the First Minister’s announcement that Scotland would move to phase two of lockdown measures.

The company announced that its limousines in the fleet have been fitted with Perspex shields, ensuring a safety barrier between the driver and families being transported to and from services. After each use, the limousines are deep cleaned and carefully sterilised, with drivers also wearing masks to provide extra peace of mind.

Nick McLaughlin, MD of Fosters Family Funeral Directors, said: “We have been committed throughout this crisis to providing the highest level of care for families requiring our services as well as our staff.

“We hope the reintroduction of our limousine service with these additional safety measures will provide further peace of mind and reassurance for families at a difficult time.”

John Brown, operations manager at Fosters Family Funeral Directors, added: “We are proud to re-introduce the use of limousines to our funeral services. It will allow families to have a traditional funeral procession, and as places of worship begin to re-open we will ensure that our clients can travel to and from the funeral in safety and comfort.

“Allowing families the opportunity to travel together and support each other is very important to help with the grieving process, so any additional comfort we can bring to those suffering a loss is greatly welcomed.”
