Midlands-based funeral directors, Morton Funeral Directors has appointed Rob Barr as its new general manager.

Barr entered the funeral profession straight from school and worked his way up to become the manager of several Co-op offices in and around the Manchester suburb of Chorlton, before moving to Manchester Crematorium.

At Mortons, he will work with managing director Sarah Case and the management team to continue to develop the business, which was established more than 120 years ago.

Barr said: “The attraction to move to the West Midlands was great, particularly to work in such a long-established independent family firm with such an outstanding reputation. The welcome from people has been warm and friendly and my family have been quick to settle here.

“I am looking forward to helping the team here to continue to deliver excellence, professionalism, respect and care in all we do.”

Case, managing director, Mortons, added: “Rob’s personality, professionalism and experience made him the stand-out person to fill this role and it’s a pleasure to welcome him as an integral part of such a great team.”
