Drive-thru funeral home opens in Japan

A new drive-thru funeral home has opened in Japan, allowing mourners to say goodbye to loved ones without leaving their cars.

The parlour was originally designed for the disabled and the elderly, reports The Japan Times.

The operator of the Aishoden funeral home believes it is the future of funeral arranging for those who don’t have much time.

Grieving family members stop their cars next to a reception window, giving their information and then give their condolence.

Kazuhiro Ogura, who was touring Aishoden, told the Japan Times: “[It’s good because it] responds to the feelings of people who have given up participating in funerals. I think the chief mourner would be also happy about the fact that they have come to the funeral [even if they didn’t get out of their car].”
