Co-op Funeralcare reduces average costs by seven percent

Co-op Funeralcare has re-launched its Simple Funeral to offer an improved funeral option, reducing the average price by seven percent or £140.

If clients are members this cost will be further reduced with a saving of £380. The Co-op hope to increase transparency and provide a more affordable funeral product.

Richard Lancaster, managing director for Co-op Funeralcare said: “Losing a loved one is incredibly difficult and decisions about funeral arrangements can be especially hard in a time of grief particularly when there are concerns about keeping within a tight budget.

“Our new Simple Funeral has been designed to better meet these needs, making it more affordable without in any way compromising on the quality of service or our industry leading standards of care.”

William Millar, president of the National Association of Funeral Directors, said: “The NAFD remains concerned that there are a growing number of people who find themselves unable to meet the costs of even a very simple funeral.

“The NAFD and its members, including Co-operative Funeralcare, are committed to ensuring funeral directors not only offer a range of affordable options and clear pricing, but also the support that families need, at a difficult time, to say farewell to a loved one.”
