Colleagues from Co-op Funeralcare completed the Yorkshire three peaks challenge on 21 July in a bid to raise money for the British Red Cross.

Some 243 walkers, including six Co-op Funeralcare colleagues from Mersyside and Nottinghamshire, embarked on the 24mile hike taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in temperatures of up to 25 degrees.

Over the last four months, the team have been training for the event by taking on various peaks across the UK. On the day, their training paid off when they completed the hike in 10 and a half hours.

Pamela Brown, Co-op funeral director, said: “As a team we decided we wanted to do something bold and challenging to really push ourselves. Not only did we complete the hike in great time, which is an achievement within itself, we’ve also been able to raise just over £1,000 for the British Red Cross. It was great to see teams from two different regions come together to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
