Winsford-based funeral director Dave Fowles is to climb 18,500 feet to the summit of Mount Elbrus to raise money for The Joshua Tree charity.

Fowles will climb 18,500 feet up one of Europe’s largest mountains as he aims to raise as much money as possible for the charity that helps children living with cancer.

The challenge will see Fowles set off to Russia for 10 days funded by the family funeral business.

The mountain won’t be the first one Fowles has conquered after he successfully climbed Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu for other charities. To prepare for Elbrus, Fowles has been climbing in Wales and Cheshire.

Fowles said: “Whatever I have to do to get up to the top of Elbrus is nothing compared to what the families and children looked after by the Joshua Tree charity go through every minute of every day.

“It is a fantastic charity doing amazing work and they need all the help we can give them.”
