A Yorkshire funeral director has married an embalmer during a funeral themed wedding service.

The service saw the bride arrive in the hearse and walk down the aisle to the theme from the Addams Family, with the reception featuring a cake with a skeleton bride and groom and a sign reading ‘any day above ground is a good one’.

The invited guests were reported to be unsurprised by the theme, with funeral director wife Hayley Owen telling media the service was “very low-key” adding “I didn’t want any fuss”.

Husband Dave Barker told media: “We just wanted something different, it’s probably as far away from a wedding as possible.”

The couple had a pre-wedding honeymoon with a moped trip across the UK, that involved them raising £750 for SANDS and the Alzheimer’s Society.
